Epilogue
Evangeline woke up to the smell of pancakes, slowly she peeled her eyes open to the most beautiful view, of a meadow. After everything they went through, they decided to get a cottage in the middle of nowhere. "Good morning," said a deep voice that she knew so well. As she turned there, he stood, Jacks, with those magnificent dimples and a breakfast tray. "Mhmm that smells amazing. What's the occasion?", Jacks made a face: "I wounded little fox, how could you forget about the anniversary of our first kiss?". She made a horrified face, had she forgotten, has she miscalculated?
"I'm kidding sweetheart, that's next week, today is a dif-" the sentence was interrupted by a pillow flying in his direction, which he barely dodged and almost let the trey fall. He placed it on the bedside table and climbed the bed, "you are going to pay for that!", his hand crept around her waist and began their attack. "No please no, I'm sorry!" the girl laughed.
After the exhaustion hit, they lay down tangled in each other arms.
"So?"
"So what?"
"What's the occasion?"
"Well, I thought we could make this a new anniversary."
"Why should we need…", as she turned, Jacks was sitting up on his knees, with the most beautiful ring in hand. When she looked closer, she could see that the pink crystal was in the shape of an apple.
"Before I met you, I thought that I would be alone for the rest of my life, and I was okay with that. But from the moment I met you, I didn't want to be anywhere else than right next to you. At first, I thought it was an obsession that would pass, but I realised that it wouldn’t. I didn't know how to act and acted foolishly. And even though you stayed, you fought for me, and I can't express how much I love you for that. You are the fox to my archer. And I am hoping that you will allow me to spend the rest of my life with you. Evangeline Fox, will you do me the honour of being my wife?" the poor boy looked so nervous like the answer wasn't obvious.
Evangeline threw herself at him, almost throwing them both off the bad and screamed: "Yes, a hundred times yes, god I love you so much." A beautiful grin spread across his face and his shoulder sagged in relief.
He took her face in his hand and lowered his lips to hers, and without words told her everything he couldn't with word.
This is where their story ends, with a happy ever after. And nobody deserves it more than the girl with pink hair.
