Hello Friends! :)

In school we had the book “When Stars Are Scattered” as class reading. I recently finished reading it. I choose this book because I really liked the cover.

It is a graphic novel. The book was released on April 14, 2020. The graphic novel was written by Victoria Jamieson and Omar Mohamed and it was illustrated by Iman Geddy and Victoria Jamieson. The book is also a Junior Library Guild selection.

This book is about the true story of two boys, who are from Somalia and fled to a refugee camp in Kenya when they were little kids. Life is not easy there, but Omar and Hassan are cared for by an old woman. Omar was given the opportunity to go to school, he knows that is a way to maybe change their future, but that also means that he can no longer take care of Hassan as much as before.

I really liked this book and I am fascinated of the book because I like reading rather less but this book was so touching and heart-warming that I read it in three days because I really wanted to know what would happen at the end of the book. I loved the graphics, the stunning illustrations and the quality of the book is very good, but it’s not only beautifully drawn, the book also tells an exciting story about childhood in a refugee camp and it is also about friendship and family. You get an insight into the life of a refugee and that life there is very difficult. I would recommend this book to readers over 12 years but I would definitely recommend it for adults too, It’s not just a children story. It teaches amazing lessons on relationships, friendships, compassion, gratitude, and so much more. This book is one of my personal favourites.

I hope I could convince you to read the graphic novel “When Stars Are Scattered”. Please leave a like and a comment!
