The book “A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder” was written by Holly Jackson and published in 2019. The genre of the book is mystery as well as fiction. It has a little over 400 pages. Furthermore, a few pictures/drawings of scenes, chat logs or other things are featured. The story is told from the main character’s, Pippa’s, perspective and is written like a diary. Readers follow her investigation and learn about her fears and her theories on what might have happened.
Pippa Fitz-Amobi is a student working on her EPQ – her extended project qualification. Her topic is the closed case of Andie Bell’s disappearance and her supposed murderer, Sal Sighn. For it she is armed with her laptop, a voice recorder-app and a lot of courage.

Right from the start, Pippa makes it clear that she doesn’t think that Sal is the murderer. Stating it as early as on page 7: “Because I don’t think your brother did it – and I’m going to try to prove it.” to his brother, Ravi. This is because she knew Sal – he once saved her from some bullies and since then he has been her hero.
Pippa talks to different people while trying to discover what really happened to Andie. But she soon realizes that not everyone wants the dark secrets of the past to be revealed. So now, the question begs, how far is Pippa willing to go for this project and who, and where are her limits?
Concluding my entry, I want to share my own opinion on this book. This book keeps on giving, there are interesting turns of events and it is amazing, captivating, gripping and thrilling down to the last page. It was a very easy to read book – I finished reading it in under three days – and it did not disappoint. Each chapter is more engaging than the last one, but if I had to choose a favorite chapter it would be chapters 38 to 40. There was such an unexpected plot twist! It really changed everything for Pippa. If you want to know what it is go to the library and check the book out! You won’t regret it.
Lastly, I would highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys mystery books.
